I dont think there is any state in the USA thats more Italian than New Jersey. My neighborhood which is actually named the Italian Village was like stepping into Naples or something. It was kind of weird because as the block became Hispanic and we started picking up the Italian American English accent. Just imagine a bunch of Puerto Ricans talking like their names were Vinnie or Mario? My grandmother used to talk to my neighbors in Spanish and they replied in Italian. My distant cousin is Ronnie from the Jersey Shore. My uncle Alberts parents were from Naples. My cousins are half Italian. Italians are to Jersey what Mexicans are to the Southwest. When I was in Rome I felt so comfortable it was like I was on 2nd st in 1985.
