I dont think we have enough discussion on this page about the best thing thats ever come out of Japan.. and considering this is the UBC anime club, I find the lack of discussion and excitement surrounding this subject quit disappointing. Yes, you guessed it, Im talking about GUNDAM! I mean think about it, the hundreds of millions of classic mecha tropes that we now enjoy originated from this masterful piece of work. Who doesnt know about Tomnio-sensei and all hes done to contribute to to the one thing we all know and love. Why do we have masked villains with elaborate schemes and edgy back stories? Why do we have angsty teenaged protagonists growing up after realizing the dark realities of war? How would anyone pass Poli Sci 101 if it werent for the deep political structures you could only learn from watching Gundam? Many of your fellow club members, alumni and others have moved on and joined the work force forever losing out on a club whose true directions have become misguided. We must never forget what the main stream anime culture has done to our favorite Mecha franchise! Our hopes and dreams have been wasted on horrible series like Gundam Seed Destiny and Age, filled with their abyssal plot and terrible MS designs. But I believe we can remedy these current unfortunate circumstances. By focusing our time and wallets towards buying UC Gundam related merchandise, supporting the new Tomino directed series, Gundam: G no Reconguista, and the animation of Gundam Origins, we are finally in a position where, together, we can bring about a new age of Gundam to the entire world. Victory is within our grasp, and once again, the best series to ever have been animated will flourish. Victory is the greatest tribute we can pay those who sacrificed their time at UBC to pave the road for us! Rise, UBCANI, Rise! Take your sorrow, and turn it into passion!
