I dont understand our mindset in this country. And Im talking to peeps in my generation - the below 40s. Cmon! What exactly is our contribution to nation building? Even on Zuckerville? Im reading some commentaries on the so-called call for disintegration by Arewa Youth and I must say Im sore disappointed that we appear to be controlled more by emotions and sentiments than by moral justice. When the news of the 486 arrested in a 33-vehicle convoy broke out, I spoke out against it, as me, lowly Petra. Yes, the security situation made some support the move because it was better to err on the side of caution. Well, fate didnt let those who vehemently disagreed with me on that occasion to tell me ntoin. Not that it ever matters. :) But, whether people supported it or not shouldnt be reason for anyone to support that irresponsible call by the Arewa Youth asking Igbos to leave the North in 2 weeks. (I suppose its less than that now). Until Nigeria breaks up, everyone has the right to live whereever they so wish. An eye for an eye will only render all of us blind, of what use would that be? We need to be a lot more open minded to this project-Nigeria. I hope so-called elders from all divides will call those whose past time it is to make inciting remarks to order. I dont see what positive benefit the blood weve shed as a nation has been. Whichever group has issues should please, direct them to the confabulists who seem to lack a clear agenda for their convergence. And we must learn to de-emphasise the messages of the Femi Fani-Kayodes, the Asari Dokubos and the Nasir El-Rufais amongst us. They should never be allowed to cause bad blood amongst sane minds. Isnt it unfortunate how Asaris name found its way sandwiched between names of otherwise powerful and highly intelligent men who are assets to this country? Na wa!
