I dont understand people sometimes. I have some of the most rude and anti-social neighbors. The couple that lives across from me go out of their way to avoid eye contact or any situation where they may have to speak. This morning, the wife had the misfortune of leaving her apartment just as I was coming back from walking the dogs. Of course the dogs wanted to scurry over to see what was going on as the door opened. She quickly closed her door and then when an appropriate amount of time had passed for me to pull them away and control the horrible beasts, she reopened the door and made sure to keep her back to us so as to avoid having to interact with another human. Then theres the guy who lives beside me that has never spoken to me, even when Ive offered a greeting like good morning. And finally, a girl that lives on the 3rd floor that has to walk by me on her way up the stairs sometimes. How hard it must be to politely say hello back to someone. She was even able to overcome my mothers charm when my mother once greeted her. I grew up in NC and when someone speaks to you, doggone it, you speak back! Southern hospitality is a fading concept.
