I dont usually post trivial things of what I am doing or what I am cooking. but I do post a lot of opinions. Well tonight I have to share might reveal evening. I decided well Dennis was at the Eagles working I would fix him supper. he has been amazing the past three weeks of taking care of me. I got out the old cast iron skillet to fry the chicken in. he did the oil and season the chicken enjoying the aroma already. my phone rang and it was Jarrod in Canada needing me to look something up on the computer. still trying to do everything with one hand I put him on the speakerphone. while talking to him the smoke alarm went off so I ran into the kitchen and my chicken was over cooking. I slid the pan off the burner, grease plopped out of it on to the cooktop stove. immediately fires started rising up from the stove. I said theyre looking at it thinking that no you do not throw water on fire itll only spread it, so I just watched it burn itself out. took the chicken out of the skillet and went to finish my conversation with Jarrod. after finishing the call I went back into the kitchen and scrape the burn off of the chicken. Put it back into the pan to finish cooking. Then I tried peeling the potatoes with my non dominant hand and that was a joke. Needless to say our mashed potatoes tonight are going to have skin on them. My original plan was to put labels and dates on my Avon books while supper was cooking, but with my kitchen fiasco I was afraid all I would get out of that would be paper cuts. I am going to go sit down, shut off my phone, and not even turn on the TV in fear I could blow the house up. On top of that, we have the amazing ADT alarm system in our home since the burglary. When the smoke alarm went off I never did hear a friendly voice of the lady saying is everything okay. What a night. Ill catch up with you all tomorrow if the good Lords willing and the creek dont rise.
