I don’t mind seeing security agencies investigate potential terror threats; after all like most things in life, prevention is better than cure! Authorities need to make sure they go after suspect individuals not entire groups, and that message needs to be conveyed to the public. And authorities should be able to provide some sort of evidence or proof for their suspicion later on to ensure they are not “randomly” targeting people based on their appearance and backgrounds, which what already happens in certain settings like airports! Everyone has the right to be presumed innocent, until proven guilty, so that there is not a mass hysteria and unnecessary attacks where people try take the law into their own hands. If proven guilty, and it contravenes the law of that country, then I have no sympathy. If you migrate to a different country like my family did in 1987, you should never forget the place, culture and traditions of the land you came from. But you need to adapt to live within the laws of that country. By all means if you think something good be done, make a suggestion, but if the majority vote and decide it’s not what they want accept the decision and move on. You can’t force your ideas and practices onto other people! And if you really can’t live without a certain practice, which is not permitted within your living country, then it’s probably best you go seek to live in another place where it is! One of the biggest problems in handling issues like this in western countries including Australia is sense of hypocrisy and a lack of common sense in their approach. If a nation declares a particular organization, group or practice as illegal, criminal, terrorist etc. why then do they allow the sympathisers and supporters of these groups/organisations to publicly voice and display their support. It happens all the time, for example last month I saw on the news, ISIL supporters marching in the streets of Amsterdam, waving the flag, gathering support! It happens everywhere else. Before that were saw extremist idiots threatening to attack and picket a celebrity funeral in the US. inciting hatred When I was in England I saw this several times with my own eyes supporters of various banned terrorist groups proudly demonstrating flag and all. Once outside The Oval in Kennington, I approached to Policemen that were watching it all and asked why they are just watching and not stopping it, they claimed they can’t do anything. This is Freedom of Speech! Quite frankly what a load of Bullshit!!! Freedom of Speech and Political Correctness needs some common sense in its application, but most western nations lack this and then want the rest of the world to follow this ideology. If you are going to allow such groups to parade around the streets don’t act in shock and horror when they plan or carry out illegal acts within your own country! If the “Freedom of Speech” is inciting, hate, violence, attacks on someone else or other groups, how can they be allowed? If they are declared criminal/terrorist and not within the country’s laws then any such public display should be prevented, and large gathering dispersed. And all those taking part questioned for obviously supporting these groups! You can’t use the excuse it’s within my race or religion, if it is not permitted within the laws of the country they are living in! If you don’t like it or are offended, too bad! Either you adapt to the place you are living, or simply pack up and go to somewhere that permits within its laws the practices you want to undertake! It’s as simple as that! Common sense would go a long way, yet politicians have complicated everything in pursue of votes!
