I dream vividly almost every night. I can recall several of my dreams from now all the way back to when I was 3 years old. Last nights dream was intense: I was at a high school football game, sitting in the bleachers with a bunch of my old friends from Clovis HS band. It was a crisp fall evening with no clouds in the sky. As I sat there, catching up with my old friends, I felt a very strange vibe come over me. Just then, the stadium lights all blew out, stopping the game and causing general discontent with the crowd. My friends and I just stopped talking and noticed how clear the stars were in the sky. As I stared into space, the eerie feeling intensified. Someone pointed out what looked like shooting stars. They flashed across the sky, but not from a uniform direction. They seemed to be moving to and from everywhere. Then it felt like a sonic boom. We saw what looked like spaceships exploding and falling to the ground. As they fell the Earth, what I can only describe as a faint transparent-blue hexagonal trail, followed each ship before slowly fading away. The ships made otherworldly sounds as they came screaming down to the ground. The crowds in the stands were terrified. Some people scrambled for cover, others were just frozen watching the war in the sky unfold. Some of my friends and I made our way to our cars, desperately trying to avoid being crushed by ship after ship spinning out of control and exploding all around us. Somehow, I managed to escape unharmed. I was on a mission to get home. As I walked into my house, I found Gavin (my 9 yr old), in tears staring at the skies intently from his bedroom window. I tried to console him, but no words could ease the worry on his face. I got my family together and we made a plan to find cover in the morning if things got really bad. But it seemed that our neighborhood was a safe distance from the horrific events going on above our heads. (In my mind I knew I was dreaming, and usually I can wake myself up if I need to, but I wanted to see how this one would unfold.) I found my way to the bedroom and turned on the news. All the reports were just similar sightings of what I had experienced firsthand. It seems it was a global issue, but mainly in the Northern Hemisphere. None of the alien ships were attacking people. It was as if they didnt even notice us. I watched until my eyes were too heavy to stay open (in my dream). I awoke (still in my dream) to the sound of President Obama confirming to the world the previous nights events. We had in fact been visited by an alien civilization, possibly at war with itself or another alien group. Human lives were lost as a result of the conflict, but humans were not being targeted intentionally so far. He marked it as the most important event in modern history. We finally knew we were not alone. Then I REALLY woke up. This typical of my dreams. Very intense, colorful and intricate. But always leaving me wanting more... Thoughts?
