I dreamt that I was part of some kind of Christian commune. It was in the near future and things has gotten pretty apocalyptic, but we had a nice spread of farmland up in the hills that was largely unaffected by the massive social unrest and famines that were wracking society. One day I was hanging out near the front gates to our land and I saw a small caravan of ragged cars pull up to the gate. Some hungry, bedraggled looking people got out and asked if they could have some bags of vegetables from our crops. The gatekeepers conferred with the leader of our commune, and it was decided to refuse them. If we started giving to travelers and refugees, word would spread, and soon our utopia would be overrun by outsiders. We turned them away. In the next scene of the dream I was arguing with other members of the commune. I was against the decision. I said it turned our religious beliefs into sheer hypocrisy. They argued that it was a real-world necessity. I called them hypocrites and stormed off. I went back to the gates where a small group was gathered, including the woman who was our leader. They were staring at a video feed that looked out over a body of water that was the only un-gated entrance to our community. They thought they had seen something strange. I joined them and we all watched closely the eerily calm, still lake. Then, with a sudden decisiveness, a hand shot out of the water and covered up the camera. All went black. With a chill, we realized: they were coming for us.
