I drove down to Sparta, NJ this evening to jam with my old pal Don Elliker . I have to thank Don for reminding me of why I do this sport. Its about making music with my friends, not the soap opera/petty bullshit stuff you can sometimes get bogged down in, and that was sidetracking me a bit lately. Don has graciously volunteered his time and considerable talent to come and play a mini-set with me @ the memorial dinner for my late friend Peter G. Callas (RIP Pete) which is being organized by another friend of mine, Bob Gioia . My band, The Great Compromise will provide the music that evening, looking forward to it, and remembering Pete. Don and I were working on cover songs that Pete would have loved and his friends will remember: Know You Rider, Me & My Uncle, Out on the Weekend, Sugaree, Spanish Moon, hopefully there will be a few more. Don and I have a limited repertoire, weve only played together for a couple of hours : ). Don played his acoustic guitar, I was playing the PRS Singlecut (electric, Les Paul style guitar) through the clean side of my 112 combo amp, the two guitars sounded great together. Dons the kind of player that makes anyone who plays with him sound better.
