I dug a trench when I was a child. It was to shallow by all - TopicsExpress

I dug a trench when I was a child. It was to shallow by all means. As I grew so did the trench. The deeper it got was enveloping. It kept calling me back to finish it. There were times I climbed out the trench, strew my shovle to the ground and recalled all the progress I had made. Gutting at how far I had come, only led me to realize how much further I had to go. As I drove my spade into the soil it grew even deeper as the heat around me rose. Drenched in my ones self I winced it away with a dirty fore hand. As I dug deeper large stones began to appear; one by one I removed them. Mud slides tempted to hinder my progress, but heard hard headed I pushed on threw. I chuckled that nothing was going to stop me. After a while the isolation of the trench grew. I needed to get out. But in a way I didnt whant to give up either. Kind of funny, cause when I looked up it didnt matter; I had been digging for so long there was no way out. There I admit it I was stuck. The very thought teetered me and my existence. It take years to dig me out. What if it all collapsed swallowing me whole? Could I ever make it out? If I did would anyone care? Out of frustration I bellowed to the nights sky. It quickly was accompanied by a bolt, more over a flash, a strike of lighting. It seemed to drown me out and the louder I got the more and more it came back to avenge me. I gave up as it overpowered my own cries. I was no more. Throwing the spade to the far end of the trench I slumped back down. I lowered my head down to grieve a sigh. When I returned it back to an upright position I rested it on the mantle of soil behind me. I slowly lowered my heavy eyes into darkness; just then a flash of light struck the sky and my darkness. Almost instantaneously it faded. Trickled out of the nights sky I was dampened. It had begun to rain. Vast amounts begain to soften the soil I rested uppon alerting me. I became wise to my situation, but what was I, there was little hope I was going to make it out as the mud slides began to engulf me. There I stood as the mud rose up to my ankles. I tried to climb out but failed. I couldnt put a grasp on the situation at hand. I became saturated with muddy rain water each time I feel to the receiving end of the soil. Large portions of the trench began to collaps unto me. I was being burried alive, sufficating. Whips were being cracked along the sky and I was at the recieving end suffering my fate. Soon I was hushed, being ushered further beneath the soil. As I streatched my arm out that is all that was left. The mud slides subsided. My breathing compacted. The weight of the soil was crushing me. I began to loose feeling in my body. The cold rain that washed my exposed hand felt like needles. My chest was caveing in. Each time I took a breath I could taste soil. No where for my tears to go, I couldnt cry. Laiden there unaware something took hold of me. Somthing was clasped to my dead hand reviving the life within it. I wasnt aware to what my expitations were to be. I was still in my darkend plane. As I started to recall, the soil gave way. My body jerked with my arm. My senses awoke. What was this I thought; it felt like something was trying to tear my arm out. How could I panic, I was going to die. Then in an instant I was born free of my cavern of soil. Gasping for air I spat out mounds of soil. Unknowingly I heaved swollowing some soil, but quickly caughed it up and out. After some time my labored works subsided and I regained enough strength in me to form a conclusion. I looked around scanning the immediot surroundings. I wanted to arise, but was stricken in weakness. Slowly my mind and sight came back. Thing begain to appear to me out of the darkness; the mounds of dirt, the stones, boulders, the rainfall. It all came back into excitense. More focused I scanned again to my surprise to find some of the bulders had been struck smashed. As I crawld over to examin them more closely as a match struck the nights sky eluminating the bulders. Funny I thought; what was this I saw? One of the boulders looked to be inscribed. Then another match was struck. I was reading what I could each and every time the sky lit a match. Soon it became very clear to me that I was not quoting a crushed bulder, but my very own hedge stone. A voice came startleling me. I was haunted by what I had seen. Then the voice came again, louder, more definate. Fearful I resisted to take my gaze upon the stone away. The voice came again, it reminded me of who set me free. I was confused. I was still in shock over the whole thing. That is when lightning struck the ground not far from me, setting it afire. As it grew near I had no choice but to make haste. It seemed I had lost the acounting voice. Yet little was I aware that the voice I heard was still there. As I gathered myself I intended to make a break for it. As the rain poured the flames roared to Escalating hights. Enough to avoid being stamed out. As I tended to leave the stone behind me I made a break for it. But something solid was compiled within my path. I was thrown to my feet befor I could even make a stance. There I was back on the ground again and when I looked up to see what collided with me I was blinded by a flash of.light. so bright it shot me back. I raised an arm as a visor well the heat behind me sored. An outstreached palm greated me and I backend away slowly. Eventualy it led me to collide with the stone. There was no where to go. I was pinned. Fearing for my life. I didnt want to die in a blazzing fire, nor was I akin to the blinding light. All I knew was I was going to die. If I didnt act quickly I was going to be burned alive. As I noticed the palm tremble I took my chances claiming the palm within mine and braced myself. As I was lifted to my feet, the rain instantly was brought to a halt that brought with it a whirling wind seizing the fire; extinguising it compleatly. I saw this all before I had realized what had lifted me. When I turned around to my final foray, I saw finaly for the first time what I had latched onto. The light that emited from him glorified him in every way. It haloed echos of where he was about to take me.
