Ive share what I wrote to both Ohio Senators and my Representative this morning, below. But whether you agree or disagree with me, the point of this post is to encourage you to SPEAK UP. Only through active participation of everyone can our government truly be of the people, by the people and for the people. ***** My message to my representatives... whats yours?***** I am not one to share a link like this idly. The article below is one that I believe firmly gets to the heart of the issues arising in the US. The government shutdown and the non-funding debate over Obamacare are simply symptoms of a much bigger, and more ingrained problem and this article articulates it very well: opinionator.blogs.nytimes/2013/10/05/rich-people-just-care-less/?smid=fb-share&_r=0 I hope you take the time to read this article personally and really think about what it means. Empathy is a skill that should be a pre-requisite to becoming a congressional representative. The US was a country built on the concept of equality, of government for the people, by the people, of the people. Unfortunately, I fear that more and more, our government is becoming one for the rich, by the rich and of the rich. Each individual representative needs to be reminded what their job is - to represent their continuency. Not just the rich and influential who perpetuate the influense mongering in Washington, but the work-a-day Americans who are struggling to get by in an economy that more and more favors those who already have money.
