I especially mourn the death of Fountains of Wayne around Christmastime. Its holiday displays were so kitschy/creepy/absurdly out-of-date, they were great! Walking through the stores holiday displays was like walking through a time machine back to the good ol days of an old-fashioned Norman Rockwell Christmas. It didnt matter what year it was outside, it was always circa-1960 in the Fountains of Wayne holiday displays. And it stinks how its so difficult to do any research into the Fountains of Wayne store because a certain band named themselves after it and became vastly more popular than the store itself. According to my cursory research, it appears that Fountains of Wayne was in business for over 40 years before closing forever in early-2009. If anyone has any pics of those old displays to share, Id love to see them posted here. Any links to websites with more information about the Fountains of Wayne store would also be appreciated. RIP Fountains of Wayne. Gone but never forgotten.
