A reader asks Hi I have a 20 month old boy, his father has a son from a previous relationship with autism. So when I fell pregnant the possibility of autism or something similar was something we knew could happen. I was wondering if anyone could give me there opinion on my little one. There is a few signs which I dont know weather there red flags or not. He has server eating problem, he will only eat puréed foods, Iv tried him with almost everything i can think of, he wont even eat chocolate or crisps that melt in your mouth or toast/cereals etc. everything makes him gag/throw up. He also struggles with touching certain foods, that can also make him heave, and wont really touch anything wet. He has seen a nursery nurse and currently seeing a speech and language therapist about this. Aside from this he is speech delayed, he only says momma (which isnt directed to me) car and ta, He will only say these words if I say them first. He also has an obsession with toy cars, he could stand for hours playing with a car on the arm of a sofa and if you ever try to take them off him ( to feed him/change his bum) he will throw a tantrum and throw him self on the floor. When he was a few months old he was always known as the good baby he was very quiet and content, in a bed routine by 5 weeks old. When he was around 1 he banged his head a lot, agains the stair gate/floor/sofa. Thats stopped now but occasionally he will come over to me and start hitting his chin really hard off my leg. When he gets excited he sometimes flaps his arms about and walks around on his tiptoes, and finds it hilarious to spin around in a circle. I just wanted peoples advice, if these are anything to be concerned about or what else to look out for. Also if anyone has had similar eating issues, advice on what they did to help that? Anything would be appreciated thank you x
