I expect Tuesday to be a tad busy, so let me post this now. Tuesday night is the Jimmy V Classic. It will be aired by both ESPN television and radio. I am delighted that I will be on the call of both games on ESPN Radio with Marc Kestecher. In addition, at halftime of the first game, I will be on ESPN TV with John Saunders. Those are ALWAYS great experiences and I am very grateful indeed. But this year, at halftime of the second game, we will be making a check presentation to the V Foundation from our Louisville Friends of V group, in the amount of $125,000. I want to thank the MANY people that made this happen. The golf committee and sponsors for the Fred Cowgill-Valvano Golf Scramble. (Fred and a number of key sponsors from that event will be among those on court for the presentation. ) In addition Marshall Sample and his RTL Tennis event have been great supporters. The V Bocce event, presented by Constellation Brands, was a big success. Both those events have many volunteers and sponsors who made them a success. Churchill Downs was a big supporter with their College Night promotion. Bill Collins Lincoln was a very significant contributor. Russ Lytle and MONEY CONCEPTS have been very generous partners. Chris Redle, a pro at Wildwood, played 100 holes to raise money for us. Casey Bannon has organized middle school events for the V Foundation for a number of years. Fuzzy Zoeller who donated Masters tickets that raised over $8,000. Doug Dressman has been a world beater coming on as our Community Events Director. He has been instrumental in our surge forward. And last but by no means least, the countless numbers of people in Louisville that have contributed time, money, talent, merchandise or any combinations of those things to get to this number. One hundred thousand of this is being earmarked for a research project at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center that has the potential to be a game changer. I couldnt be more excited about that part of it. And we hope to do even more. We--you, all of us--ARE making a difference in the fight against this disease. Im proud of and grateful for all of you. And were going to do more. Can you hear us Jim? We wont give up...we wont ever give up. Promise.
