I fail to see a significant difference between feminism and womanism. Neither seem to be focused on true gender equity but rather female dominance over men. The adherence to a dogmatic hypothesis that men control everything, i.e. the patriarchy, can only lead women to loathe men. Feminism/Womanism keeps women from seeing the world as it actually is, that men have their own gender specific struggles, especially black men. The only quasi-distinction I can really gather between the two is that Feminism has been hugely successful as a movement while womanism has largely been ignored. So Dr. Umar is spot on recognizing that feminism has used our sisters while primarily benefiting white women but cant seem to recognize the other inherent flaws with feminism that have been transferred to womanism, which is merely an ideological derivative of feminism.
