I feel like I grew up in a time when independent films were honest - TopicsExpress

I feel like I grew up in a time when independent films were honest and genuine. They werent trying to be cool. They werent about following some hipster/ tragically flawed protagonist. They werent about being Independent. They were risky, they took courage and they had vision. Whether you loved or hated these films, you had to respect them. The Doom Generation, Happiness, Crash (not the god awful Matt Dillon/ Sandra Bullock film) Reservoir Dogs, Nowhere, Kids, Requiem for a Dream, Rushmore. These were films that didnt fit a mold, werent built from a template- that had directors behind them who had something they wanted to say whether people wanted to, or were ready to listen or not. Just saying (forgive my 3am thought processes.)
