I feel like I should make something clear to all of the close minded individuals who lack the ability to think metaphorically/creatively and therefore, only interpret lyrics in a literal, concrete kind of way. I write in metaphors, because I have an extremely metaphorical thought process. My writing has always reflected that. I want to be clear on this, because some dont understand that I write songs (such as VooDoo Doll) that are nothing more than one big metaphor. Let me explain. VooDoo Doll represents the uncontrollable feeling you have when youre in love. Suddenly a person can have power over you which can cause you to do things you normally wouldnt. You can feel pulled in many directions wishing you were free from the love spell but also liking it and not knowing why. Or maybe youve been in a relationship where youve felt as though someone has continually punctured your heart (like needles on a voodoo doll), but theres something that you cant stay away from no matter how many times they hurt you. Hopefully the title makes sense a little better now. I wont explain any other songs from this point on, because honestly if you dont understand my music, then its probably not for you and thats okay!! But I felt it was important that people know my style of writing so I could clear up the apparent confusion. And with that said NO, I do not practice VooDoo. Youd be surprised how many strange questions Ive been asked...
