I feel like my brain has expanded after hanging out and staying up late with all the sociologists that were in town for the music symposium and conference held by Texas State. Being in such great company and ranting over what marginalized self is defined by which music in what context makes me want to finish my undergrad. Granted Im pretty stacked up living out a dream already, I cant wait to come off the road or slow down a bit, write a sociological dissertation on what it means to be on a van tour with a band, as well as a hired gun session drummer and the social interactions that are fostered by that work. That being said, were moving on to Austin research after studying Leon Russel at Gruene Hall last night (which was badass by the way). If youre interested in hanging out with us as we bounce around town, dinners at 6:30 at everyones favorite Thai joint, touring 6th as the music sets up and starts around 8, then elephant room at 9:30 for a relaxed atmosphere post 6th. After that maybe hit red river for Mole People at Cheer Ups, then eastward toward the new Austin flagship known as the White Horse. Message me or call me for more details if you wanna tag along.
