I feel so privileged and honored to have been the Artistic Director at The Actors’ Gang for the past 33 years. Through our productions and social outreach I have had the joy to experience three decades of laughter, inspiration, and transformation. 2014 was a beautiful year. Our education outreach programs in Los Angeles and Culver City Unified School Districts expanded from 5 to 12 schools and we were able to grow our Prison Project from 1 to 3 prisons. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder honored us with a visit at CRC, Norco, witnessing the work we do and speaking afterwards of its importance and effectiveness. We toured A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Beijing and Shanghai in China, Porto Alegre in Brazil, Spoleto in Italy, and Nashville, Tennessee playing to sold out audiences with standing ovations. Our adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed free of charge for families and children, played to over 2,000 people in August in Media Park. And our productions of The Ghost Sonata and The Queen Family’s Very Special Holiday Special performed on our main stage to enthusiastic responses. Our 2015 plans include: --Over 120 performances of new plays at the Ivy Substation (at least 40 will be Pay-What-You-Can nights), bringing together over 12,000 people of all incomes and backgrounds. --Free in-school and after-school Arts Education programs and Free Shakespeare-in-the-Park for over 2,500 youth, inspiring creative self-expression and the development of skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and communication. --Expansion of the Prison Project into 5 California prisons. We are working on state-wide and national replication models for artists and communities eager to help inmates foster self-esteem, tolerance, and non-violent expression while significantly reducing recidivism. —Touring performances in China, France, Italy, New Mexico, entertaining over 15,000 international arts lovers —-Continued support of Get Lit, the groundbreaking, innovative poetry program that continues to expand its outreach and scope, effecting fundamental change in the students it reaches. The exciting thing about expanding our education programs in schools and in prisons and in growing our touring presence is that income becomes available to the wonderful artists in The Actors’ Gang that have maintained and grown these programs in the past through their volunteerism and hard work. As we grow as an organization we ask you to help support these teaching artists and the programs they are administering with your tax-deductible contribution. We promise, as we have in the past delivered, that every dollar donated will be put to good use. Join me in supporting The Actors Gang - please make a tax-deductible donation. You can give at theactorsgang or send a check to: The Actors Gang 9070 Venice Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232 Please invest in entertaining, educating, and empowering our community. We have the tools and the man and woman power to make this happen. Your support of the Actors Gang will have a direct impact on issues we all care about while bringing some joy into the mix for a truly lasting effect on the people we reach. All my best to you. Happy New Year! Tim
