I felt guilty for going to bed last night at 8:30. I have tons of work to get done and had a busy day yesterday with other responsibilities, so it left all my work for night time. But after boot camp was over, I did about an hour of work and could hardly keep my eyes open. I threw in the towel, and went to bed. I slept until 6:45!! I have to take a step back and re-evaluate why I feel guilty. Guilt is a terrible thing. Im listening to an audio for personal development called Maximum Confidence by John Maxwell. Remember I told you I lack confidence and self-esteem? So this is actually the third time Ive listened to this audio and I highly recommend it to you. It is not just about confidence. He shares so many ideas I think absolutely anyone can benefit from. But in this audio he says that in order to feel guilt, you must believe whatever it is about yourself that you feel guilty about. I felt guilty about not staying up late to get all of my work done - that must be because I believe I am a failure if I dont do everything I set out to do that day. But of course that isnt true. There are some people who wont go to bed until every single thing is crossed off their to do list. This probably makes them extremely successful. I know that I want that success in my life, so I feel that going to bed early, when Im tired, isnt going to get me there as quickly as I want. So I have to step back and find out what is really important and what I really believe about myself. I also need to be better about scheduling so Im not left trying to complete everything when it is dark out. I dont want to feel guilt, I dont want to be holding my eyes open by tooth picks, and I want to be successful. So from here I have to focus, schedule and plan. Easier said than done, right? Do you feel guilty about things in your life? Have you ever asked yourself why it is that you feel guilty? I challenge you to take a good look at it and ask yourself questions to help over come that guilt.
