I finally realized what one of the big problems is with +972 Magazine and other Israeli lefties: many of them are *de facto* Zionists. They immigrated to Palestine as Jews. They didnt flee persecution; they simply exploited the fact that Israel allowed them in, perhaps ignoring the fact that it refuses the same inherent right to the lands own indigenous Palestinians. Now, I write this as a grandchild of Jews who came to Palestine in the early to mid-1930s from Eastern Europe and who were decidedly Zionists and did not really flee persecution either, but would probably have been burnt in Treblinka or Maidanek had they stayed. But Im not them, and I dont live there anymore, and with all of my criticism of political Zionism of yesteryear, I cannot compare the lives of Jews in 1930s Poland to that of 2010 New York or Boston. Especially in light of the large Palestinian diaspora which exists today and is denied even visiting rights (with US/EU/Canada passports!) and did not exist then.
