I finally told the girls about the break-up. The hardest part of all this is seeing them cry, seeing them heartbroken, sad and confused. You have noooo idea, what its like for Nancy and I to see our daughters in grief. They were so sad when mom and I broke the news. Good thing Nancy and I broke the news to them together. Its the least we can do for them. So they know they have mom and dad, its not their fault and theyre not alone. Because when you go through a break-up, Its a loss for everyone involved. Kids too fall in love, they feel it! And I get it, Its true, not many people can handle what I have to offer, its not easy, not for the weak-minded, or immature. If I could give any advice to any single parents, make SURE the other person is 1000% sure that he/she KNOWS they want what you have to offer. And to not be biased, for YOU to know what you want from them too BEFORE the kids get involved. You dont want any unexpected last minute epiphany surprises later in the relationship that theyre not ready or theyre too young (which is valid), bc by then its too late. The families intergrate, the siblings, parents, extended families get involved. Unless theyre parents themselves, he/she will truly never know what its like to see their kids fall apart in deep heartbreak. Its trauma. So single parents, you too please be 1000% sure youre ready to share your kids with someone that is onboard, faithful and truly ready for commitment (and I know its not easy), but until then, do not get the children involved. Its the safest and smartest thing you can do for them. Lesson learned.
