I find it ironic, troubling and unapologetic that our Local Elected Political Office Holders seldom express their views on any of the Top Political Issues that effects most if not all Americans, either locally, statewide or nationally. For instance, back during the Health Care Debate before the Affordable Care Act was passed and signed into law, our Local U. S. Representative during a interview with a reporter from a local news station was asked her personal opinion on the presumed build-up of U. S. Military Troops in Afghanistan. Her reply was, ( im paraphrasing) I have no comment until I hear the Presidents position on Afghanistan. Back then and today, I expect our Elected Officials either local, statewide or in Washington D. C. to answer all legitimate Political, Job related questions truthfully and if they arent sure of all the facts, they will respond appropriately and say they dont know the answer and they will find the answer and get back to the questioner personally or make a public statement using newspapers, radio or tv networks. All I hear from our Locally Elected Officials is silence, all I see are Photo-ops and more Photo-Ops, Noting about their personal or political views on issues that effects the citizens of Erie, Pa. Erie County, Northwestern Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, the United States of America and the world at large. This isnt a Local Political Problem, it is a Systemic Political Problem that has infected every Political Venue and sadly, it has become the Norm in Politics today. Could it be We the People dont want to know what our Elected Officials views are, or we dont expect an honest answer from our Elected Officials or both? Does our Local Political System and our Political System in general across the United States reflect the demographic intuitiveness of its citizens? Why do 50% of eligible voters in the United States refuse to register to vote and then vote on Election Day?
