I find it perplexing, but not surprising, that people today do not - TopicsExpress

I find it perplexing, but not surprising, that people today do not grasp the meaning and value of a mans word. That a fella can generally look forward and accept the consequences of what a decision may cost and/or profit him, and say This is my word.. An example, I stated that I will not enroll in government enforced health care insurance, nor willingly pay any penalty for doing so. Chances are the law will be repealed, and my valiant stance will mean absolutely nothing but bragging rights. There is also a very real chance that it will not be repealed, and a year from now for failing to pay the penalty Ill have my drivers license suspended and no longer be able to make a living the best way I know how, by driving. And shortly after that government will start seizing my property to pay the penalty, forcing me sell everything I own, bury my money in coffee cans scattered about and reside in a rental situation making the best of what I can as an Independent Contractor doing odd jobs hear and there, a lot of fun without wheels. But I said I would not, and I will not. So whatever the consequences be, from nothing much to life in jail I will pay, for the simple fact that my word is my bond. And for no better reason then because I said so. I almost feel like a parent, with out all the changing of smelly diapers. Also if someone has a little shack on a back corner of their property they want to rent me in a few years, let me know. :~)
