I find it really interesting these days how many people are becoming obsessed with food and the elimination of food groups. Like parents today with toys and things typical children should do (things we all did as kids without issues) like scrapping your knee, falling off a bike or playing in your neighbourhood, playing with cap guns or climbing a tree.....paranoia seems to be at an all time high. Interesting study and research now reflects that many people who become Orthorexics are usually insecure, obsessed or have OCD or have a point to prove - hence the dramatic change in lifestyle and diet. If they obsess they take away guilt and blame, if they obsess and point the finger at a product or food group for weight gain or feeling lethargic they feel better and some even go to extremes to make money off creating cults based on cult education which if anyone really looks into is a quick money making scheme. Do the maths, if your fat its usually because you have no self control or you may have a medical condition or possibly your emotionally eating, you also could be lazy, stressed or just in a bad place, its not because you had dairy or some sugar or treated yourself to some butter popcorn every now and then at the movies. People make way too many excuses these days when it comes to eating when factually if you eat everything in moderation, have a healthy life style, get regular health checks and keep fit, find passion in relationships and have work life/family life balance than most MEDICAL experts would agree that there is no need to BAN anything and the word BAN itself is not healthy at all and definitely is not a good message for children. I always look at my son who has never been banned from anything, he has no food hang ups, no allergies, no insecurities with food or food groups and food is not a problem in his life. He is loved, happy and enjoys food from all cultures and food groups. He explores taste, enjoys cooking and is not only smart beyond his age but is very active and personality wise he is a GEM. He is also very rarely sick and I do believe it is because I have raised his to enjoy food rather than fear it or obsess over it. Its always quite funny when I go to a party and my son (who isnt banned from anything instead opting for moderation of all things) is having a better time running around and playing with friends while other children who are not allowed certain things are the ones who sneak off to steal candy or shovel it in while mum and dad arent there to see it......I know which kid Id rather have! Having an ice-cream now and then wont kill you but your obsessive and unrealistic lack of an approach to being healthy in moderation just might. Great read about yet again another celeb who thinks he is god! Seriously Pete, eat a burger Gaunt is so not a good look on a man and your skin is looking fake, haggard and tired! Natural glow certainly isnt working for you or your fake tan! Eat everything in moderation as the experts advise and raise your children with a healthy view on food and the wonders of enjoying all food groups! Extreme eating is the wrong message. Enjoy it all! Special mention to my 87 year old nan who is sick at the moment, who ate everything in her life, never suffered any major health issues, never used cosmetics or creams/potions (has the most amazing skin) - I will never forget her NZ treats she used to bring over a of times a year, something we all shared and enjoyed......something I will always treasure! A woman who LOVED porridge, fruit, Rice Bubbles and Chinese Food!
