I find myself thinking more lately about the simplicity of life - TopicsExpress

I find myself thinking more lately about the simplicity of life when I was a child. Life was far from easy but it was much more simple then. Things were mostly black or white and there was no such thing as being politically incorrect. We said a prayer in unison every morning at school and never thought a thing about it. We openly discussed God and Christianity at school and no one ever complained about it. Ive been trying to figure out why things are so different now and I think it boils down to diversity. When I was a child you would walk down the street in Gainesville and probably 98% of the people you would meet would be just like you. They may be black or white but they would be Christians. The big difference would be whether they were Baptist or Methodists but we would all be Christians. Back then it was easy to practice our faith because we lived in the Bible belt and we all pretty much worshiped the same. We have been sheltered here in North Georgia to a certain extent because diversity has been slow to happen here but for better or worse it is here now. We must be aware that we are surrounded by all types of people who practice all sorts of religions. We live in the United States of America and it was founded on freedom of religion. We are free to practice any religion that we believe in and thats made this country great. Our laws guarantee equality, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and separation of church and state....for every person. We must take care with Christianity in our schools lest our children then be subjected to equal time for all other religions. I do not want to see a photo of our football team on the ground praising Allah with their Islamic coach. It is easy to let our emotions run wild but cooler heads must prevail and consider all the aspects of the situation. Yes, we have the right to worship God and pray any where we please but certain people have to stay neutral so that our kids are not subjected to religions that are against what we believe in.....just my opinion.
