I find notions like this a bit dangerous when it comes to feral cat populations, specifically in urban environments. In Lawrenceville, we have a feral cat population. Now, enter a new demographic of people, like the kind of people who writes or reads op-eds in the New York Times, who use their money and influence to rid their newly gentrified neighborhoods of all the feral cats. In the effort to save some species of birds or wildlife, it offsets decades or centuries of the balance with cats and the vermin population. Just saying, going after the cat population is what brought about the plague. Stray cats are a crucial part of the citys ecosystem.
