I first visited my father in Las Vegas in 1977. We hung at the old Union hall and when the older musicians learned of my desire to move to Nevada the response across the board was, Oh no kid. Theres nothing happening in Vegas anymore. You should have been here twenty years ago when the town was really happening. Now, almost forty years later, I hear musicians who worked successfully through the eighties and nineties and have now attained middle age repeating the same words. IMHO the business never really changes. There is something that changes in us...or, more accurately, there is something that needs to change in us that we choose to ignore.
