I forgot, in the allure of beginning the journey that will allow me to do what I am passionate about for the rest of my life, that graduate school would mean 2.5 more years of trying to get a hold of someone at the university who actually bothers to look up the answer to my question instead of answering with whatever comes off the top of their head... 1.The woman in financial aid wouldnt talk to me without my student ID number, which I dont get until I go to orientation on August 20th. She swore it was on my admissions letter, I told her my admissions letter came from the department as its a selective admission program. Pulled it out and read it to her. She still swore the number was on there. I promised her it wasnt. So, she told me to talk to admissions to get it early - and gave me the number to admissions... It was the fax number 2. I go online and look up the number to admissions... The office of admissions prompt menu says to press 1 to talk to undergraduate admission and press 2 to talk to graduate admissions... Both options take you to the office of undergraduate admissions, fyi. 3. Call the registrars office to see if they can help me, he gives me the number to the help desk. The help desk has a message up stating that they are on summer hours, M-TH 7am-6pm... Its 11 am on a Wednesday, why am I getting this message? Who knows. 4. Finally call the registrar back and explain all of this to a lovely woman who actually listens. She pretty much asks me my life story and then gives me my student ID. I am sure this is against protocol, so I thanked her twenty times and wished her a million good days. 5. Call back the office of financial aid, with my student ID number finally in my possession... Theyre at lunch. Well, its 11:30 am. And I wouldnt be opposed to some wine...
