I forgot to say this, but I had a bit of a panic last night with one my rats. I take all of my rats out onto my bed for out of cage time every evening into the late night. I also put several toys and accessories on the bed for them to play & explore in and chew on. One is a soft little pet bed. Anyhow I take out my 2 newest boys, Splinter and Fievel, last. I was reading last night Iike I often do) and really involved in the book I was reading. When it came time to put the boys away in their cage for the night I could only find Splinter. The little pet bed I found on the floor, upside down, and Fievel must have gone with it. Right away I started looking for him under my bed (where my rats almost always go when they get off of my bed & can usually eventually capture them), but he wasnt there. I checked all over my bedroom (as I have several pieces of furniture and other things he could hide under) calling his name but didnt see a sign of him. I also listened for him but didnt hear a sound. I didnt panic and figured that if I couldnt find him Id leave out some food & water, but kept calling him. I shut my bedroom door in case he was in there as I didnt want him to go into the rest of my house if possible. I went out of my bedroom with the door still shut. I then briefly checked the extra guest bedroom which is right next to my bedroom (side by side). However a few seconds later there he was coming out of my spare bedroom, and he went over to by my closed bedroom door where I easily caught him. He was such a good boy for knowing his name so well, etc. so I really praised him for it! Anyhow from now on Ill be sure to pay more attention and be more focused on my rats when Im bed with them reading, watching TV, etc. Im so grateful that I found him so soon and didnt have to worry during the night while trying to sleep, etc. about finding him. Heres a pic of him in the pet bed.
