I found 160 pages of draft of my novel about my grandparents - TopicsExpress

I found 160 pages of draft of my novel about my grandparents written in year 2000. I have to make it about 3 times longer. It is already very gripping and made me cry about 5 times, and parts are really quite funny, as when my cousins go to Myingyan to move our grandfathers grave. I am not going to say more, as I myself have forgotten what they did, i.e. what they did in my fiction, but as with everything I write, there is more than a grain of truth in all this. I also found the section with the blind man I was looking for, but still looking for my pieces on a Muslim man with 4 wives, one from each major ethnic group(this also based on a real person) and one about a female president in the USA that I wrote in 2001 a few days after 9/11. I made a Burmese version on request and it was published in Sittang or Salween or whatever it was called, which only had one issue, and I used a photo that my friend gave me to manipulate it into a woman with black hair smelling a lotus. (that too sis said, Who is this mainma gyi--well I did not know and do not know as it was one of the photos my friend gave me to cut up and make into art--very funny. Not so funny that my dear friend, with whom I would discuss when to buy long term care insurance, died a few years ago of undiagnosed heart disease. She was the one who prevented/forbade me from eating a big chunk of cake that someone left on her plate untouched at Teaism on Dupont Circle. When she saw me looking at it she said, Kyi, I will NOT let you eat off someone elses plate. And kaye htu had the gall or whatever to say something bad about a photo that has been fictionalized!!!! You cant please everyone. Therefore I have stopped trying to please anyone but myself. The 9/11 story did provoke some gullible naive charming reactions, such as Does the President really wear a bullet proof vest? Of course I dont know. So as my writing mentor says, I say I dont know. I made it all up. Ha ha. KMKaung 7-30-2014
