I found Milton Mann through a phonebook hanging off of a payphone - TopicsExpress

I found Milton Mann through a phonebook hanging off of a payphone in Long Beach. My mom and I went to an antique swap-meet, and the deal was we go to a local accordion store (I was looking for a new one). Anyway, I called the number in this phonebook, and it was Miltons home number. I asked, What are your hours? thinking it was a store. Well, when do you want to come by? was his response. We argued for a while and I said, Im coming by at 3 pm. There. I showed up, played various accordions he had for sale, and Id been playing for about 3 years, and Milton says, Youre pretty good. Do you want me to teach you how to be better? I had no idea what I was getting into. I let my other accordion teacher go, and everyone, including her, was saying, Hes gonna try to sell you a DaVinci. Which he did, but its actually a Guerrini with handmade reeds, and Ive played HARD for almost 11 years with it (made in 1979) and it sounds perfect. He charged me $40 for an hour but we usually went about 2 hours for it all. He taught me everything I needed to know. Then when he was 86, he and my dad died within 2 weeks of each other, and I started playing piano for 2 years. BUT, I still play that DaVinci Although not perfectly youtu.be/6ZYmS1Jfrag
