I found out something exciting today!! My mom called and said that her and my dad are going to be hauling the Horn in the West cast in the 4th of July parade on King Street, Boone, NC!! My dad was part of the original wagon train. His dad, Spencer Miller, pulled their wagon with long horned steer. They have been featured in several articles in the Wilkes Journal Patriot recently. Being my dad is a direct descendent and has an original wagon, (and of course Belgian horses to pull it), they have been chosen to do this! So if you are up that way, stop and watch the parade!! It sounds like there will be a lot of history there! Back growing up, my parents were always the one to pull Santa Claus in the Christmas parade. It was always so much fun decorating the wagon and putting tons of bells on the horses so you could hear them coming down King Street.
