I found this while going through my mothers life insurance files - TopicsExpress

I found this while going through my mothers life insurance files (we recently started singing together at rehab): A DEATH TO DIE FOR Someday, when Im old and gray I hope, Ill lie down for the last time in my own bed. If theres misery, I expect there will be lots of morphine--lots of it. I imagine my daughters--and perhaps some other who love me at my bedside. Ill remind them who gets the pearls, who gets the diamond rings, go over the things of value in the house, and then get down to brass tacks. One last time, I hope, well excavate the past together and cry about whats to come. Well speak of the improbability called life, and of the astounding sweetness called love. Well gather sorrow and strength into a constellation of speech, painting our last days with the indelible residue of soul-talk. Perhaps theyll sing me the song I once sang to them and smooth my hair as I once smoothed theirs. Ill tell them how hard it is: theyll tell me its OK to stop living. Theyll help me get on with dying, and Ill help them see how its done.
