I gave in today and downloaded iOS 8 for my phone. Every update - TopicsExpress

I gave in today and downloaded iOS 8 for my phone. Every update has always created nightmares for me, but this went well. So . . . I thought Id do it for my iPad too! Its not going well. A little research (a little too late) revealed that Id have to free up some memory in the iPad. Only 16GB in there. It went well for my iPhone because it is a 32GB unit and I had plenty of memory left. Most folks buy 16GB iProducts. I found this out when I bought my 5S earlier this year. I bought a 64GB device. Then, I broke it (NOT on purpose). When I went to get a new one (thats why you buy insurance), I was told it wouldnt be possible because there were no 64BG phones available (replacement phones via insurance are always refurbs). In fact, there were not even any NEW 64GB phones anywhere in my area (amazing considering where I live) and replacement was going to take 3 weeks. They DID find me a NEW 32 GB phone after a week and I agreed to downsize. The salesmen were incredulous that I would need 32 GB much less 64. No one buys more than 16GB they said. This update glitch proves the wisdom of getting more memory, but its not without drawbacks. Solution? Hook the iProduct to your computer and update through it. The memory problem goes away. Still . . .
