I got a phone call from someone saying they were with the IRS and I owed the IRS money. I dont ever give my Social Security number to anyone calling or online applications. I hung up and called the IRS. They checked my tax history and found that I did not owe any money. They told me there has been a group pretending to be IRS agents calling people saying they owe money and people are paying with bankcards and accounts. The IRS will never ask you for SS number or to make phone payments. You will receive a letter in the mail first. If you should receive one of these calls try to get name and number dont give private info hang up call IRS.
