I got an email from a listener in New York yesterday. She is a teenager in high school and she wrote to tell me about the horrible stuff she has to deal with on a daily basis at school. How a group of girls wrote an entire book about all the things they hate about her and the reasons she should kill herself, then the left it in her locker for her to find. About how every single day she either gets spat on, pushed or hit. The part that really got to me is that I know this poor kid is one of millions around the world who have to live through this shit in school. Racism and equality are massive issues in this world, but how can we ever expect to make those issues go away when the first world children of this planet bring each other to the brink of suicide and past the point of no return? If you have an interest in the epidemic that is school bullying, Google Stand for the Silent. Fixing the problems of humanity start in our school yards (and that itself is no quick fix).
