I got tagged by Emil so heres my list of ten books, in no particular order, that had a big impact on me. These are just some of the books that helped to shape the reader I am today. There are plenty more. Shit. Why isnt Vonnegut on this list? Wait. Can I do twenty books? 1. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams 2. The World According to Garp - John Irving 3. James and the Giant Peach - Roald Dahl 4. My First Two Thousand Years, an Autobiography of the Wandering Jew - George Sylvester Viereck and Paul Eldridge 5. Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail 72 - Hunter S. Thompson 6. Helter Skelter - Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry 7. Maus - Art Spiegelman 8. Steal This Book - Abbie Hoffman 9. The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck 10. The Last of the Mohicans - James Fenimore Cooper This last one goes on the list because it is the worst damned book I ever read. I hate this book with the passion of a thousand Motel 6 lights left on. It is a certifiable case of the the movie being better than the book (doesnt matter which film version - they are all better than the book). It is poorly written balderdash. James Fenimore Cooper was a hack. If you dont believe me, believe Mark Twain. He said it best: twain.lib.virginia.edu/projects/rissetto/offense.html
