I got the opportunity to work the Runnin WJ Ranch benefit this - TopicsExpress

I got the opportunity to work the Runnin WJ Ranch benefit this weekend and it was a really great show. A huge number of entries, tons of giveaways, and free water and snack for the everyone. It was well run and the booth did great, but all of this aside I wanted to share the experience I took away from this barrel race. I got to meet and work on a lady by the name of Alicia Guthrie and hear her story of how this ranch changed her life. She went from someone with tremendous balance problems to someone who rode horses and fell in love with them to someone who was able to run cross country in high school and wear high heels when she dressed up. After overcoming her challenges she is now a volunteer at the ranch helping others and still enjoys the horse activities. I was hugely inspired to tears while talking to her and it reminded me how many things we take for granted every day and how anyone can work hard enough to overcome any obstacle put in front of them. The only way you stop making progress is when you quit trying. Alicia brought me a magazine with her featured story and even signed it for me! We need more great places like this ranch where kids can learn and bond with these animals that so many of use have dedicated our lives to. There is nothing like the feeling of having a bond with a horse and Im glad these kids get to have that opportunity. Please take a minute to check out their facebook page and website. They have around 20 horses and over 400 volunteers that make things happen. And if you havent made it to their benefit barrel race, it is one of the best and most fun. We will go back next year for sure. A long drive is nothing compared to the great feeling of being able to help. #inspired #dowork #dontquit #reachyourdreams
