I got this wonderful review from Writers Digest in an email this week for my childrens book, Reflections of a Blueberry! The Print-on Demand version is still available (smaller but same story and illustrations as the first edition). You can get it on Amazon for under $11 now! Structure, Organization, and Pacing: 5 Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar: 5 Production Quality and Cover Design: 5 Plot and Story Appeal: 5 Character Appeal and Development: 5 Voice and Writing Style: 5 Judge’s Commentary*: • Cover is vibrant and so professionally done, with a great shape for young readers in the blueberry and fun personalities conveyed right at the start. Great color choices with the primaries and accent tones. Stands out well. • Pepe the flea is adorable! Excellent detailing on him. • Illustrations are a huge standout of this book, with fabulous colors and textures. Even the night color palette is smart, and the textures and patterns of the magic carpet bring the imagery into 3D effect. Very well done. • Language is relatable to kids, and the cadence and pacing of the text is age-friendly and engaging. Author is very attuned to her audience’s comprehension level and creates a sweet story for these characters to inhabit. • Creative rhyming adds whimsy to the book. Well done. Very fresh and pleasant for parents to read out loud. • Great lesson: what’s true for you is what you choose, not what other people say. Brilliant! • Great to have the two stories here, delivering twice the adventure and keeping each story simple and resolving well. Nice ending, perfect for bedtime with fantastic images well matched to the text. A fabulous book!
