I gotta a funny KRS-1 story! ( Funny now, but I was sweatin back then) It was 1990 and I was departing LA for DC and met him at LAX! I normally dont sweat celebrities because I try to respect their privacy! .... but this was KRS-1 and the Edutainment LP was in FULL effect and as a fellow Bronxite, I had to say something right? I figured that Id go the respectable way so I said Mr. Parker! How are you sir? as he was knelling down to arrange his bags. He stood up very slowly and gave me the once over a few times on his way up and I was thinking DAMN! this Brotha is Huge!!!!!! Oh &$&$!!!!!! So Now I got his complete attention and he wasnt looking too accommodating so I quickly told him (without stammering)!that I grew up down the block from where he filmed the My Philosophy video on 168th street between Fulton and Franklin aves. He didnt say a word, but he smiled and acknowledged my background valid with an affirmative head nod! He gave me a pound and that was that! Years later it dawned on me that with my formal/ respectable greeting plus the non-hood attire that I was rockin at the time LAX he probably thought I was Five-O or a Fed or something. Oh well! I was just tryin to be respectful!
