I grew up being very familiar with the assassination of JFK as it - TopicsExpress

I grew up being very familiar with the assassination of JFK as it was a fascinating, oft-discussed, if somewhat morbid and tragic, topic in our house. My mother was a young girl when he was killed and I think it was one of the most defining moments of her generation and as such held a very tender spot in her soul, much like 9/11 has for my generation. It is unfortunate that the man and his presidency came to be defined by a single tragic moment. All of his accomplishments, for good or ill, forever over-shadowed by death and scandal. I recently went looking for some of his speeches and came across this inspiring address. We have all most likely heard the famous excerpt We choose to go to the moon, but have probably never listened to the speech in its entirety. Quite an inspirational speech that fosters a hope in humanity, our country, and the potential for all humankind. I think our country is in desperate need of a president as charismatic and engaging as JFK; someone who can inspire us to be greater than we are and give us a goal like the race for the moon to aspire to; a goal beyond military conquest and ceaseless war on terror. A very good speech...worth a few minutes of your time, IMHO. youtu.be/ouRbkBAOGEw
