I grow very weary of armchair quarterbacks, especially where they obviously know nothing at all about the real facts of a situation but are acting on emotion only. I absolutely hate vultures who prey on discord and live from unrest, like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. I find it dismaying and frightening that our president would comment on a non-national current event with a personal slant: "If I had a son, he would look like ...". Has he seen the pictures with the tats and the middle finger being given to the camera? "We must do all we can to avoid tragedies like this from happening in the future." Which part is the tragedy? Is it the verdict? Is it the shooting? Is it a young man who attacked another? Is it a society that presents their youth as thugs and "gangstas" with an in-your-face aggressiveness that is designed to put fear in the heart of whites, thus making it more likely that they be shot in self defense even if it may be unnecessary? The tragedy is his contributing to a polarization between the races that threatens to undo much of the change of attitude brought about by the civil rights movement. We need to accept this verdict, get the administration out of current affairs, insure watch officers are unarmed, and work toward breaking the back of the money making machine that is feeding off young people with rap and hip hop culture and by their greed unraveling the fabric of unity that our country should have across all colors. This writer is one voice of reason in a media that has gotten criminally biased and almost usless for real news.
