I guess Im not up to date on pop culture. I just found out that Fifty Shades of Grey is not an advertising slogan for Sherwin Williams paint. Somebody told me its a book about bondage, and that women really like it. What women? I did get in the backseat one time with a woman who wanted me to wear handcuffs. But she was a deputy sheriff, trying to take me in for disorderly conduct. And whats going on with music nowadays? I dont like any of it, especially country music. I grew up listening to Merle Haggard, George Jones, Johnny Cash, guys like that. The stuff I hear on country radio these days sounds like jingles written for teenage girls. It reminds me of the Partridge Family. And so do the guys who sing country music. They look like underwear models, not country singers. I guess its the influence of videos. The look means more than the sound. I mean, can you imagine a guy who looked like Red Sovine making it in country music today? Oh, well, I guess Im becoming just another grumpy old man. But maybe its not too late for me. Maybe I can teach myself to like modern culture. I wonder if my wifes got any handcuffs?
