I guess it is never too late to learn important info. Have been on phone and online the past two days inquiring about changing Medicare supplemental plans. I thought you could only change plans during the open enrollment season. Nooo, that is only for the first time enrollees. After that you can change anytime you want. Also realized, duh, that the plans, such as F and G , are the same, no matter the company because it is federal So, as long as the company is highly rated, get the cheapest rate. The plans and the payment for claims is the same. Now, the first time you enroll, age 65, they have to cover you ! No medical questions asked. But, afterwards, if you want to change companies, then you must answer medical questions and must be accepted. Of course, then, the better health you are in, the lower rate you can get. Now, I thought I needed plan F because it is the most comprehensive. Come to find out, plan G is exactly the same as F with the exception of a one time, once a year 147$ deductible. And, plan G is less expensive and doesnt go up as much or fast each year as plan F. If you can understand this....amazing. Lol.
