I guess whats on my mind lately is guilt but that of curiosity why parents want to teach their children to hate their grandparents. From my understanding hatred is not an emotion that comes naturally to a child. It has to be taught. A parent who teaches their children to hate their grandparent represents a grave and persistent danger to the mental and emotional health of that child. therefore leaving the grandchild feeling sad,angry, and confused. The childs views may become influenced by dramatic distortion, and believe their loving grandparents has become source of fear or danger; therefore believing something that isnt really true. I have one such ex-daughter-in-law whom has been doing this since her children were born and dose so without realizing or caring what the mental and emotional impact it has on the children. I have never taught my children to hate their grandmother,nor have I ever told made up stories in order to control their thinking any kind of negative thoughts about their grandmother. If one grandparent is able to give money or any material item to the grandchildren at birthday time or christmas time or whatever event that may come along and the other grandparent can not, this is a brainwashing leverage for the controlling parent. Sometimes grandchildren feel helpless and may be unable to protect themselves from the over-bearing control of their parent. I feel children are told stories of misinformation. Especially when the grandchild doesnt spend quality time with their grandparents. Please dont teach your child to believe that material items should take the place of love and quality time. I rarely did see my grandma but when I did I loved the hugs and the mean apple pie she made and never did it enter my mind once to think what did she buy me. My mother always explained to us that grandma had little and no way to come visit us, so when we had the time to visit her she gave love, a great dinner, and quality time. I really miss those days.
