I had a Mother today complaining to me about her son. I asked about his age, she told me he’s about 18. And as many of you know, one of the most hated things to my heart is seeing a Mother upset with her child. Now as most of you know, the teenage years are the most dangerous and rebellious years. Those who studied Psychology and Behavioural Science know exactly what I’m talking about. Your body is going through a massive change; mentally and physically. Just a reminder to the teenagers out there, most of the decisions you make during those years -which your parents disagree with- you will end up regretting. But unfortunately, humans don’t tend to learn from peoples mistakes and rather experience them. During your teenage years, you will always think that you’re right. If you’re smart and wise, you would recognize that the truth is that your parents are more experienced and understand how this world works probably 10x more than you do. Many times when I was in that phase and I would decide to put my ego down and ask my father for advice, I always used to leave the setting saying to my father, “Wow. How do you even think of this stuff?” Don’t underestimate how much your parents know about this world. It’s just when you’re young, they won’t come and share with you the bigger problems they have. Which means you’re not exposed to their knowledge and experience with regards to solving problems. Put down your ego, allow your parents to help you, and make them happy. And that is of the best ways to gain Allah’s happiness. And if you make Allah happy, He will make you happy.
