I had a friend say the following on their facebook status, I had to fill our a questionnaire to be selected as a juror. So not happy about this, Im in fact pissed. I dont want to lose money sitting in a court room when I could be at work or better yet at midwinter Now dont take this the wrong way because I consider you a friend and I respect you as a human being, this is the most constructive way I can think of putting this, People like you (with your mind frame) tend to piss me off to no end! The function of a Juror/Jurors is to fulfil a very important role in the legal system, on the fact of the case, a person/persons guilty or innocence of the offence/offences they have been charged with! As a citizen of the United states of America, this is one of your civic duties. The concept of civic duty is based on the principle that citizens owe some allegiance to their government and that government in turn protects its citizens. Civic duties refer to the responsibilities of citizens. Often rights enjoyed by citizens also implies corresponding responsibilities. Citizenship carries with it both rights and responsibilities. In short, if you or anyone steps up and holds these beliefs true, you will be serving and protecting this country of ours, its way of life and its beliefs As JFK once said, Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country
