I had a frustrating experience at the Inwood branch library today and would love to hear some feedback. Id also be happy if anyone who works there is a member of this page and could respond. I arrived around 4:15 PM and was hoping to have some quiet reading time prior to the meeting of the Inwood Book Club. The library was VERY NOISY! People were talking everywhere, including woman, loudly, on her cell phone. When I asked one of the clerks if there was a quiet area, he said, No, its noisy everywhere. What has happened to our library, as the one place you could count on for quiet time? Whos in charge, anyway? I ended up going to Los Primos Restaurant near Isham St., got a great cafe con leche and an avocado salad and stayed for about two hours, reading in peace. But Im really surprised that this type of noise is evidently OK at our library. It seems to me that discussions weve been having about noise even extend to one neighborhood institution where it should not be tolerated. I will be sending a private message to one of the people I know who works there to find out why this is allowed.
