I had a large hornet nest in a cypress tree on the pond dam. Fearing that I would disturb it by mowing or if the kids came upon it and were stung, I chose to spray it with RAID wasp and hornet spray. I would sneak up on it after dark and blow spray into the "main" opening, then check on it later. Well I finally made them sick enough to abandon their nest. But the cypress tree died from the spray. Too much collateral damage. I am too old to go out and replant trees. Be aware of this if you are spraying wasp nests.
